Firecracker Chili

3 cans dark red kidney beans (1 lb. each) rinsed and drained 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef, browned and drained 1/4 cup butter 1 clove garlic, minced 1 large onion, chopped 1 green pepper, chopped 1 can tomato sauce (15 oz) 1 can tomatoes (15 oz) 1 t. salt 2 T. chile powder more or less to taste 1 bay leaf 1/2 t. crushed red pepper 1 t. oregano 1/4 cup fresh parsley, minced 1 t. cumin 1 T. sugar 2 sticks cinnamon 1/2 t. ground cloves 1 large can pitted olives, optional Dash of paprika Dash of cayenne Sauté onion, green pepper and garlic in butter until soft. Add beans, tomatoes, tomato sauce and all seasonings. Simmer, covered, for 3 hours. Add a little water if mixture becomes dry as it cooks. Serves 8 to 10
