Pizza Sandwiches
1 loaf Italian Bread
Butter
3/4 cup lean ground beef
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp dried oregano leaves
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 1/2 tbsp minced onion
1 1/2 - 6 ounce cans - tomato paste
2 ripe tomatoes, thinly sliced
8 slices process American cheese
Preheat oven to 350 F. Cut the loaf of Italian bread in half lengthwise. Spread with the butter. Combine the lean ground beef, grated Parmesan cheese, dried oregano leaves, salt, pepper, minced onion, and the 1 1/2 cans of tomato paste. Spread the mixture on the cut sides of the bread. Place, cut side up, on the baking sheet. Top with the thin slices of the two rip tomatoes. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and top with the 8 slices of American cheese. Return to the oven until the cheese melts, about 5 minutes. Cut to make 8 to 10 servings.
